Elaine Pampilon

I thought it would be good to look at some of the artists that are currently inspiring me, so with that in mind I will share a few images by Elaine Pamphilon.

I love the simplicity, pureness and pictorial identity of her work which is not only a talent in itself but touches on a 'moment' in time. It speaks to us of our childhood but runs deeper.

If you would like to see further examples of her work please follow this link http://www.elainepamphilon.com/

Bluebell Symphony

Worked on this one again this morning but will have to leave it to dry before I do any more. The middle ground is not working for me so need to address that. Otherwise I'm not far off finishing it.

I've also started on a new one 'Flowers in a Window' inspired by a visit to Staithes, that's for a later post though.

A good friend visited this morning too, Catherine from Catherine Howard Designs and manager at North East Art Collective, Eldon Square, Newcastle. Great to catch up but also discuss a few exhibitions and events for the coming year, one of which is coming up in April so watch this space for further information!

Back to Bluebells!

I started by cutting out some bluebell and leaf stencils and then got down to creating. It's still a work in progress but so far I am quite excited with it.

Mixed Media

Further to my crab pots post I have started a mixed media piece of Staithes. Something of a departure from my oils but I am enjoying the freedom it gives me. I'm using a variety of different papers, textures, print and oils. Not quite sure what the end result will be but so far this is how it's going...

Crab Pots

Doing a bit of colour sketching based around fisherman's crab pots at Staithes North Yorkshire. I used Berol Metallic Oil Pastels, a pencil and the blade from my knife to scrape and draw into the pastels.

In anticipation of Spring

Revisited some of my research for a bluebell painting I did for my Mother-in-Law's 70th and decided to cheer myself up with thoughts of Spring. The result in my sketch book so far is this ...
