What a great weekend at an event organised by Kathryn Guy. I have to say the atmosphere was wonderful and I only hope I can do justice to the skills and craftmanship on display. I have decided to share the work over a few blogs otherwise this would be an awfully long blog!
Thanks to Lindsey Starborn for lending me her camera and then e-mailing the photos to me. I intend to include everybody over the next few blogs and hope I don't leave anybody out, apologies in advance if I do!
Lindsey lives and works in the North East of England with her husband, Foggy, on a very windy hill with panoramic views from East to West. Lindsey says 'it is impossible not to be aware of the elements or to be influenced by them'.
'I love the beautiful abstraction of submission to processes, the alchemy of clay, glaze and kiln, the chemistry of paints and water'. This enables the medium’s voice, the organic distortion from graphic representation, a random chance effect: or is this an opportunity for my subconscious influences to surface?
The beauty of Lindsey's work is that each piece is unique, not a mass produced item, but a lovingly crafted piece with it's own character and at times quirkiness.
