Spent the afternoon at a talk given by Catherine Howard about her latest exhibition 'Free Pass' at Head of Steam, Darlington.

Apart from tea and cakes, which went down rather well, it was great to learn about some of the research and inspiration that went into the exhibition which is dedicated to Catherine's Dad, who worked as a 'Fitter' on the railways. He started at North Road Works which is where the museum is now.
We were given a talk with a power point illustrating some of her research followed by a screen-print demonstration and the opportunity to look and touch some of her samples. Catherine is keen for people to be able to touch her work which is, of course, very tactile and rich in it's layering of imagery, textiles and needlework. These are a few snippets taken on my mobile:-
I came away feeling quite inspired to get on with my own work, thank you Catherine.
